Country Bride | Giracci Vineyards and Farms | Orange County Makeup Artist

I am so lucky to have the most amazing brides as clients! Lisa was a sweetheart the first day I met her at her trial. She was also taking her engagement photos that day. Using your engagement photos as a bridal trial is a great way to test how the makeup photographs. After the trial, we discussed subtle changes to enhance her look to stand out more on camera, while still looking natural.

On the wedding day, I airbrushed her foundation, bronzer, and contour with Kett Hydro airbrush makeup. Lisa told me that it held up even after her crying most of the ceremony! For her hair, we added extensions and created a half up style with curls. I am in love with how everything turned out! She was such a beautiful bride, and I'm so grateful for my part in her wedding.

San Diego Wedding Makeup Artist

I am so excited to share these photos from Phoenicia's wedding in San Diego!

I first met Phoenicia when I did her makeup for her boudoir photos. This gave me a chance to learn what works best on her skin and for her face shape. She wanted BOLD makeup that would pop in photos. I loved her vision, and I'm so pleased with how it turned out!

For the wedding day, I used Kett Cosmetics Fixx Creme foundation and corrector to conceal, highlight, and contour her face. This formula is waterproof and long lasting.  I also used this makeup on her mother, who wanted natural skin but defined eyes.

Vueset Palette Review

Vueset Tahiti Palette - Makeup Artist Tools!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE looking at other artist's kits and especially how they organize said kits ;)

I just recently purchased the Vueset Tahiti Palette from Camera Ready Cosmetics. Vueset offers several different options of empty acrylic palettes that are designed for makeup artists and hair stylists. These little containers are stack-able and perfect for condensing your makeup kit! As a professional whose makeup kit sees a lot of travel and wear, I am always looking for the best way to simplify and lighten my load.

I'd seen Vueset containers for some time now, and since my Makeup Forever Palette that was storing my Kett foundations has finally given way, I decided to make the switch to Vueset.

I just bought the Tahiti palette as a test for now, but I am loving it so much I am going to go back and buy some more! Looking at the palette it doesn't seem like it would hold that much - but surprisingly each well holds a full 7 grams of product! That's more than enough room for your average lipstick, and perfect for my Kett Fixx creme refill pans.

You can see that the Tahiti palette has spaces for 24 different colors. The palette is very sturdy and snaps tightly closed. I know some artists have successfully use these palettes to store their loose pigments and even cream shadows/liners, so you know its got to be air-tight!

My Rating: 5/5!

Makeover and photo shoot in Orange County with model Jhoanne

Last fall I moved back to Orange County from Texas after being away for six years. The weather is so refreshing and the beautiful scenery is endless, which makes me want to be outside all the time! I met recently with model Jhoanne (also from Orange County) to do an outdoor photo shoot right in my corner of Laguna Hills. The natural setting makes for a great backdrop to the photos.

Makeup - Earth Tones

Jhoanne is obviously gorgeous and I can't get enough of her smile!! For her eye makeup, I used some Yaby pearl paints and eyeshadows in green, gold, and warm brown colors to go along with the surrounding earth tones. I applied some extra long lashes to really lift and open the eyes. For her blush and lips I chose fairly natural colors - Rimmel nude lipliner with a little Mac creme cup lipstick in the center, and Mac Melba blush on the cheeks. To create a soft glow on the cheeks, I added Becca's highlighter in Champagne Pop

Bridal Makeup

I love doing bridal makeup! Making the bride feel her most beautiful and confident on a day she will always remember is so important to me. I get to witness and be a part of those precious moments before the bride is about to walk down the aisle, surrounded by her family and closest friends.

The photos below are from one of my beautiful brides, Bree.  She had done a bridal trial before her wedding, so she was able to test out the makeup look. By the time her wedding day arrived, she had decided to change the eye shadow colors slightly to include more purple tones (which brought her eye color out even more!)

Waterproof Makeup - Rania's Bridal Makeup

I am loving these pictures from Rania's wedding! She is such a beautiful and sweet person, I am so glad to have been her makeup artist. Rania and I had spent quite a bit of time at her trial trying on several different eye looks and took pictures of each look so she could decide which one suited her best.

Rania's Wedding Makeup:

We settled on a look that highlighted her lid with a soft sparkling white color. I smoked out the crease and lower lash line with muted purple tones to further emphasize her eye shape. For extra drama, I lined her eyes with black waterproof gel liner and stacked two false lashes on top of her own.

For her foundation, I airbrushed waterproof makeup, Kett Hydro Proof.  I used different airbrush colors to highlight and contour her face. For blush, I used Kett's waterproof creme blush - I am in love with their creme blushes! I used MAC's soft & gentle to add some glow to her cheeks, and on the lips I filled in the lip entirely with Rimmel's thousand kisses lip liner (long lasting) and put some MAC lipstick in creme cup on the center to add a little highlight.

I stayed the majority of the wedding to be on hand for hair and makeup touchups (hair originally styled by Abby Kawaja). It was a beautiful wedding that took place in an elegant wedding venue that went perfectly with Rania's hair, makeup, and dress!

Beauty Photography

One of my personal projects I have been working has been to learn and practice beauty and head shot photography. I have picked up a lot from working with photographers and even getting some one on one help with the post production of an image. Aside from that, there is so much information available online to learn just about anything.

I thought I would make a post sharing some of my favorites from my recent mini photo shoot sessions. All makeup, hair, photos, editing was done by me. I love the entire process that results in the final image, and I find that improving one of these skills helps give me insight about another. As always, I will continue to learn and grow and maybe my next post like this will show marked improvements. For now, enjoy these photos!
